A "Longstreet" marker... sort of

Hi all!

Well, as I mentioned in my last post, the gaming club that I usually game with (when I DO game, which is VERY infrequently!) is doing a game of "Longstreet" in a few weeks... so I thought I'd use that as an excuse to paint something up:)

I had looked through the personality cards, and decided on this one... the "Fire and Brimstone Preacher" personality.  Not only is it a fairly simple card, but it also lends itself to a little work on a figure!

So I did a little work converting the guy... added a big beard (because Southern preachers should have a beard, right?) and a Bible to his hand.  Nothing big, but noticeable (you can see the Union Sash and Saber figure he is based on in the small photo to the above right).

Now, there is no need for personality figures in "Longstreet" but what the hell... I will be using him as a marker to show which unit I have used the bonus for, if at all!

Anyway... any excuse to paint figures!:)

25mm ACW Confederate Commanders

Hey all!

Well, back to some posting goodness, before work starts in earnest...

I thought I would finally finish up and post my 25mm ACW reb officers!

These are figures from Sash and Saber, which I think are among the nicest toy soldiers out there.  On the left is Colonel Turner (note the similarity) and on the right Colonel Slouchyhat.  I am mounting these to match not only my collection, but the rather insanely-huge collection of a buddy of mine, whose figures are mounted like this as well.

Overall I think they turned out nicely.  I don't actually have any reb infantry painted yet, but I'll get on that ASAP.  I have a nice amount of unpainted ACW lead sitting in the closet that I will have to get to at some point. I have to say, I can't remember the last time I was SO new to a collection, and it is a little intimidating... but I guess they have to get done eventually!

First Nappy Brit Painted...

Whelp, I got paint on my first EVER 28mm Napoleonic Brit! This tough sergeant is painted fairly basically, at the moment... I will be dipping him, which will make a WORLD of difference! Please note the reddish nose and cheeks; clearly an Irish chap! I have to say, I think he looks very, very cool.

I also put a coat of matte over my 28mm Confederates, so really I've almost finished my first ever 28mm Rebs too... a day of firsts! I do think they turned out nicely, although the dip did coagulate a bit on one pants leg... still, they look fine:)
