More work done...
Here is the latest... still need to finish up painting the fireplace, walls, telescope and book, but I gotta hit the sack for now.
The walls and fireplace in particular I need to think on... I may actually give them a brush of dip, just to mute the colors a bit and pull them all together. As they are now I don't love them, but I think the dip will help.
A lot of work to go, but it IS coming together a bit...

Very nice idea - not something I would dare to take on :-)
Have you thought of blacking out the back of the fireplace so it looks sooty?
Hey!
Yep, I will black out the fireplace... I haven't done any of the serious finishing work; at the moment, it is just rough paint and assembly:) Still a lot left to do!
Thanks for the kind words!
Looking good so far - you're right, a wash of something dark would definitely look good..
Its looking cool so far! Just a thought although I dont know if you could implement it this far into the process. What about some how putting one of those flickering tea lights in the fire place to simulate a small fire going? Not sure it would fit or even look right at the scale but it might look cool to turn on when your wife displays it.
Hey guys!
Thanks for the compliments...
Dan, I had considered a flickering tea light... the only issue, I think, would be that the fireplace is fairly straight-on, as far as viewing, so it might be just too obvious. However, I am considering putting a cauldron in the fireplace, which might block it...?
I may look into it today... it is certainly an interesting idea.
I think Bill Protz may have an idea for something you can use for the fire - see his post following for details of a miniature scale light up camp fire...

Ohhh that fire led is fierce... yeah, I might need to do that. Thanks for the link!
