Okay wargamers... anyone recommend a Christmas Village?

Hey all!

Well, now that I've got a kid I have an excuse to buy a Christmas village set!

The only thing is... which one?!  They are remarkably hard to find!

Do any of you wargamers out there have a company you can recommend?  I would love to find something ultra-detailed and really neat, and which of course would light up like the one above (taken from this blog... great set there!)   I prefer a smaller-scale sort of model... but anything "neat" is perfect!

Any recommendations guys and gals?

Wow, that's a difficult question.

I guess it all depends on what you like.

My wife and I have the Department 56 "Christmas in the City" set, but it is far from complete.

Believe me, I've thought of the compatability of this set with gaming, but unless you do 54mm/1-32/1-35 scale gaming, the fit just isn't there.

Another thing you'll run into with these sets - especially the Dept. 56 stuff, is that pieces are "retired" and you may find that some of your favorites are no longer available retail - forcing you to pay through the nose for rare items.

Best of luck with your search, and Merry Christmas!

Lemak christmas villages can be purchased at Michaels Stores chain stores.

Or if you want to spend some real coin, check out Colonial Williamsburg's shopping page.
