The modern city tile set

Hey all,

Not a lot to report today... just a quick mockup of the new tile set, the European set... if anyone has any suggestions or things they think would improve it, please share!

I don't like "show window". Keep them clear (blue) and add some poster (white and red square) or add curtains and "tadam" that's a restaurant ! Add dumpster or newspapers box (but it's not very "european"). White lines in the midddle of the road and traffic lights. And the non-"parallellism" of the Humvee front/back design ever bothers me. However, very good job !

Hey, thanks for coming by!

No fears on the windows... there are a bunch of different kinds, including ones with SALE posters:)

Dumpsters and the like will be coming. Lines and the like are, unfortunately, probably undoable because of the way we build the maps, unless we do something fairly radical in the code... we were considering doing something that might allow them, but it would be very tricky.

I looked at reworking the humvee but, believe it or not, all of the lines (back, front, top) are actually at the same angle... I think it must be some sort of optical illusion created by the rest of the design of the vehicle that makes it look wrong:)

To be honest, I am not sure if this is going to be strictly European; it will likely just be "modern city."

Okay. Sorry for my comment on the Humvee. It's my second favourite item (after red ghillie suit ;-) of course ).

Are you going to make a "destruct" skin for cars, walls or others explodables things? The car is the most important thing to make "blow-able". It's like red barrel in FPS.

Hey!

I had not planned on doing "explodable" cars, although it is easy enough to do... we just hadn't discussed it:) The trick is... do cars REALLY blow up that often? Or are they usually just shot full of holes? Either way, it isn't too tough to do, so we can always work it in there:)

Those buildings look FANTASTIC! I wish I had half that skill!:) Beautiful, beautiful stuff... if you want to make any suggestions on the rough stuff I've posted so far, please do!!

Awesome. Wish I could make stuff that nice:)

Hey Ashram,

glad you like what I've done.

Basic suggestions - try and avoid black outlines, choose a proper palette (for background and sprites), rethink the rather unusual perspective.

Also feel free to drop me a message to my e-mail and I'll gladly help you improving the in-game assets.

Nice regards,
