6mm Samurai Daimyo painted...
Well, I did what I wanted to do... finish up two of each "type" of stand... teppo, cavalry, archers, and samurai. So I celebrated with this...
My daimyo!
I stole the tree from a unit I had finished... I thought it would look better on this stand.
I think they look cool... a little story, with the messenger riding in with his escorts to report to the daimyo. Note the table of heads, visible in the first photo on the right of the stand!

More finished Romans...
Hey all!
Well, I did a unit of Romans for my son myself... and frankly, they don't look any better than his:)
I will say, they are just so simple to paint if you just do base coats and a dip, and that is plenty good for them.
Here they are with the already-finished unit... overall very happy with how they look!
Two more are glued together and ready for their undercoat.

A pair of great websites
Hey all!
I've been meaning to post these two for a LONG time... just wanted to direct people to a pair of AMAZING websites.
First up is Wargaming Workshop. Absolute ADORE this site... the guy has just beautiful, clear photos of a million of his armies... Epic 40k, Flames of War, Moreheim, Saga, Warmaster... the list is endless and interesting, and every single army is BEAUTIFULLY done. I mean, perfect... spot on fluff, along with imagination and creativity... and each has a dedicated, cleanly created website. It's pretty much a perfect website.
The second website is Miniature Addiction... and holy cow. The ENTIRE French army from Waterloo, in 6mm? Uh, YES PLEASE! And all beautifully based, perfectly researched... it does not get any better. Throw in some beautiful 28mm ACW and Napoleonic and Colonials and Ancients and... well, awesome stuff:)
Anyway... I urge everyone to go check out these two websites... you can spend HOURS on them, and enjoy every second of it:)

Another unit of Baccus 6mm Samurai done
Hi all!
Okay, another unit of samurai, done!
This is a bow-centered clan, in light blue. I did another tree on this stand; this time, a dogwood. It's the last tree I'll be doing for a while. It is a little larger than the cherry blossom tree, but I think it still works?
Got another group with an undercoat drying, a cavalry clan, and then I'll move on to do the first daimyo stand!

My son's first unit done... Romans!
Hey all!
Well, my son and I finished up his first unit of wargames figures!
Now, he started playing Rome Total War a while back, and so decided that he wanted an army of Romans. We picked up a couple of boxed sets of Warlord Games Romans, and went to town!
I decided we'd go SUPER simple with these; just a base coat and then dip. Eventually I'll show him how to start highlighting after that, but he is only 5, so...
Overall I think they turned out great! If you look closely you can see "mistakes" but overall he did a great job, and was SUPER willing to go back and correct stuff.
Here they are on the workbench.
So! One unit down, four more (and a scorpion) to go!

More 6mm Samurai done... with a cherry blossom tree!
Hi all!
Well, work continues as I am consumed with doing 6mm samurai... here is the latest group, that I painted yesterday and based this morning... a green clan, with a focus on guns. This clan also has samurai instead of ashigaru on the back left (facing the stand) corner of the tray, although at this scale it is almost not noticeable.
Again I wanted to add a new element to the basing, so I went with a cherry blossom tree. I think it turned out GREAT... I am anxious any time I add a normally-static piece of scenery to a base, but I think it worked out fine.
Here are the two gun stands... the red and green clans.
I have another group whose undercoat is just drying... an archer group that will be light blue. I might do a second tree, a dogwood this time. I am going to do VERY few trees, but as long as I am doing them now...
After that? The first daimyo! Good times!

All the finished 6mm samurai, so far...
Hey all!
Well, a few photos to finish off the first big push.
Above, the new shelf layout. Dropped the 15mm Dwarves down a shelf to the ACW/LOTR shelf (which actually looks sharp) and put the samurai on the top right shelf. Quite an eclectic lot... Star Wars, Warhammer, Warhammer 40k, Zombie Survivors, Samurai, and Al Swearengen.
The "Seven Samurai" stand, and then the yellow cavalry clan and the red teppo clan.
The black archer clan, and the blue samurai clan.

"The Seven Samurai" in 6mm samurai!
Hey all!
Well, last night I was lying in bed thinking about samurai, because that's what I do now, and I realized that I REALLY wanted to do a stand to represent "The Seven Samurai."
Well... done! I trimmed the sashimonos off of the ashigaru and tried to paint them like peasants, and then trimmed them off the samurai too. I also gave each samurai a different color.
In terms of gameplay, the stand will just be a "samurai" stand. Sure, it's missing some of the fanciness of the big clan stands, but I think it works out well:)

A fourth 6mm Baccus Samurai clan done!
Hey all!
Well, another samurai clan stand, done.
This one is a cavalry-heavy clan, so would get some movement and certain close combat bonuses in whatever rule set I eventually invent. I am not thrilled with the large banners; they are likely going to get redone. They need to be cleaner. I added something new to the ground scatter... some larger rocks. I'll do them on maybe every 3rd or 4th stand.
Anyway... more on the way, although maybe not tomorrow. We'll see:)

Three clans of 6mm samurai done!
Hey all!
Well, three stands of the Baccus 6mm samurai done... well, ALMOST done, just realized I forgot to black out the edges of one!
So, I am doing each stand a bit different, but there is some commonality... all stands begin with a base of ashigaru... then what is in the FRONT determines the stand's "specialization." There can be charging samurai, bows, guns, or cavalry.
First one, my "blue" clan. They are a "samurai" clan.
Their leader is looking down to a lower officer and demanding a report.
The "black" clan; an archer clan.
Here is their lord, with his two mounted guards. He has a red bow in his obscured hand (seen in the whole unit photo) to show his clan connection.
The "red" clan. This one is a "gun" stand.
The lord rides, with a trusted lieutenant beside and behind him.
The three stands together... I'll get another one done in a day or two, a "yellow" stand!
Anyway... I am SO happy with how they are turning out! I've mixed up the ground cover too, to include some longer "wheat" colored grass and some bushes, and I think it works.
More coming!

First 6mm Samurai clan done... what a revelation!
Well, the 6mm Baccus Samurai arrived yesterday, so I got a group together...
... and I have to say, what a damn revelation!
SO so simple to paint up... I think I did this entire group in maybe 30 minutes? Then the basing, and voila!
So that's it! I am SUPER super excited for this... they came together SO so quickly, it was a bit ridiculous.
I'll get another base going ASAP!
Oh, and I used a Flockbox to flock them... I think it worked nicely:) I'll post more details later.
